With a little luck your balloon flight might take you over some of Bath’s most famous landmarks and sights.

There are several commercial companies which operate regularly from the western side of Bath and with the generally prevailing westerly winds you stand a good chance of drifting slowly east of this world heritage city. Your flight should finish about an hour later in the English country side.

On a recent flight with our Cameron V-77 balloon our track took us close to the Circuit designed by John Wood in 1750. From a height of over 1000 ft you might not be able to admire the frieze of carved 528 symbols, each one different, running around the front of the curved terraces. However you should be able to count all 108 of the acorns at the top of the parapet.

Apart from the Circus, you may pass close to the Royal Crescent which was completed in 1767. It was once in the middle of farmland but is now well surrounded by the city and adjacent parks. Excellent views of the Avon valley and surrounding hills are to be had during the whole of your flight.

The views over bath offer additional interest for fans of gasholder design and housing estate layout, but the Crescent itself remains a splendid sight, with Victoria Park close by. You should be able to see the sunken fence, which kept the sheep, cows and peasants from their front lawns, but didn't interrupt the view from the apartments.

We particularly recommend an early morning flight to be followed by breakfast in one of the many cafes in the city. As with all balloon flights please remember that they are weather depended and that your direction is determined by the winds on the day.
