Mackay's Fishing

Some of the best beach fishing (part due to the catch, part the surrounds) you can find, you can also fish the reef or the river and it’s estuary and mangrove mouth. Whiting, bream and trevally can be caught straight off the sand along a lot of the coastline (obviously consult the local tackle shops for better specific advice.). While visiting I caught salmon at Sandy Creek and a sizable barramundi at Carmilla Beach in the estuary and another at Enguella Dam. Further inland are purpose fishing dams good for fly fishing for cod, perch and sooty grunter which you need a permit to catch.
