Warm, bright blue and pocked with reefs, these tropical waters support a range of fish for anglers to target from larger sports fish like marlin, swordfish, mahi mahi and Yellow Tuna to smaller light tackle species like Coral Trout or jacks. These waters are interestingly broken up by underwater volcanic formations providing enjoyable challenges. Species are seasonal and area dependant so if you’re after a particular catch do the research before you arrive regarding which areas to fish. Many anglers come for the graceful Sailfish or the Blue Marlin that teem through local deep water canyon positions and for the many calm harbours and bays Efate is the main fishing centre where the majority of charters and live-a-boards dock, it also has a first class game fishing school. On land visitors can expect French flavours and Australian influence layered onto the local culture of this beautiful tropical island group.
