When Harry Met Sally (Dir: Rob Reiner, 1989).
Katz’s Delicatessen, 205 East Houston Street, East Village, Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.
Katz’s Delicatessen (or Katz’s Deli) was a well known spot for tourists and locals before one of the iconic moments of 80’s cinema was shot there, the ‘I’ll have what she’s having’ fake orgasm scene from ‘When Harry met Sally’. Now as well as chowing down on one of Katz’s trademark hot dogs or pastrami sandwiches, you can also sit at the table used in the film, now featuring the plaque: “Where Harry met Sally…hope you have what she had.”.
Despite my best efforts to get my lunch companion to act out the scene for me she disappointingly refused for fear that I would post it on the internet… I did however enjoy my lunch. It was a toss up of whether to sit at Sally’s orgasm table or where Johnny Depp sat while filming Donnie Brasco.
Film trivia lovers may be interested to hear that the woman who delivers the line is actually the director’s Mum.
