Austria’s most varied and international arts event, the Vienna Festival occurs annually at the same time as the International Music Festival, transforming Vienna into an artistic utopia. Art exhibitions, dance and theatrical performances and an eclectic range of musical events run between mid May and mid June, but the festival still has a classical base and is opened in its traditionally grand and formal style by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Theater an der Wien.
