Turin’s bi-annual Salone del Gusto is the golden child of the slow food movement, at the forefront of the recent upsurge in interest for organic produce and sustainable food production that also tastes amazing. Small producers come from all over the world to ‘display’ rather than ‘flog’ their wares and attend workshops on producing as well as preparing great food.

Behind the practically delicious nature of the event is the attitude that food is an expression of culture and identity and should be respected and defended as well as munched. At the moment the even is taking place in the October of even numbered calendar years. This is a huge international festival, so be prepared for an exhibition centre rather than market square type of experience – these guys take food really seriously.
