When the three-kilometer central ring road in Cologne closes, it's really party time. Ringfest is one of Germany's top musical events, and with two and a half million spectators, and free admission, it's bound to be fun. Rock and pop acts are punctuated with jazz, oldies, and world music. Indeed, it is possible that the at this music crown jewel could dwarf Cologne's famously enormous cathedral, but we'll let you gaze up at the French Gothic monster with a tall glass of the city's famous beer Kölsch in hand and see for yourself.
