The Queenstown Winter Festival is a ten day announcement that Queenstown is open for winter sports and winter partying. The idea to have a festival in June was coined in 1975 in an attempt to get locals out from hibernation under their duvets and onto the slopes, and the festivals success since then has made Queenstown in June a very popular place to be for visitors as well as locals.

If you’re not into winter sports you can do more than just watch, there are fireworks, music events, craft markets and workshops, dance parties, a comedy debate, a whiskey experience, a teddy bears picnic, parades, a dog derby, a seniors luncheon and a whole range of other events intended to get the party started.
