French food does not have such a reputation for nothing, and the existence of such unexpected delicacies as chicory creme brulee, Vieux-Lille cheese and rabbit cooked with plums is royally celebrated for two serious, mouthwatering days in Lille during mid-May. Visitors can browse stalls of pastries, bread, coffee, wine, cheese, cakes and other strictly French indulgences, sampling one after the other, while local chefs display their awe-inspiring skills, test their ideas and present their best traditional dishes to an admiring public.
