In 1987, an 11-day street performance competition was introduced to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Street performers from around the world demonstrated their unique talent and skills in an un-gated setting. The concept was new and exciting: the most eclectic form of world-class entertainment and free for the public. Millions of visitors later, the Halifax International Busker Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2006. The Busker Festival has established itself as one of the worlds largest busker festivals and the premier event to showcase international street performers.
