Every August, in the town of Lorient, numerous performers put on a spectacle of Celtic arts for nearly 300,000 viewers. Performers from Brittany, Isle of Man, Galicia, Asturias, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland play 260 events, some on stage, others in the street, and some done under large tents. A wide variety of performances are done, ranging from several genres of music, to sculptors, to writers and lecturers, and the list goes on. The highlight of the festival is the traditional Breton Fest Noz – which is a night of Scottish music and dance. Music performances go late into the night, often in the festival’s Interceltic pub where visitors can sample Breton food and learn about embroidery, Celtic languages, and so much more.
