The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is the oldest continually running livestock show and rodeo in the country. The event dates back to 1896 when Fort Worth was known as “Cowtown” because cowboys stopped in the city while herding cattle to the famed Chisholm Trail. In 1918, the event hosted the first indoor rodeo in the world. Today, that rodeo is a central feature.

The event is now a 23-day expose of rodeo action, world-class livestock shows, family-friendly exhibits, live music, food, carnival, shopping and more. The stock show is a non-profit organization and, in recent years, it has provided over $1.5 million in grants and scholarships. The show attracts visitors from all parts of the United States and several international countries as well. It is held annually in January and February.
