In the land of the blond lives the land of the green! California, home of beach babes and Hollywood, is also home to Castroville, the artichoke capital of the world. The Castroville Artichoke Festival takes place every May. During the festival there are cooking demos, parades, activities for children, music, wine tasting, a 3-D food art competition, and of course, demonstrations of all the ways to cook artichokes. Artichokes are fried, sautéed, grilled, marinated, pickled, fresh, and creamed in soup. Along with other ethnic foods, artichoke farms and even a classic car show to watch as you munch on the pride of Castroville; this festival is a diverse experience not to be found anywhere else.
