If you want to get away from modern day life and rediscover simplicity, then it doesn’t get much more basic than taking a course in Bushcraft. There are family courses aiming to show you and your offspring how to live comfortably in a wilderness environment and will give you the skills to build yourself a shelter, forage for food, cook what you’ve found and other survival skills.
The courses take place in the Parc-le-Broes valley in the centre of Gower in Wales which surrounded by gorgeous woodland, but is also only 20 minutes from the sea.
As a family you’ll learn how to use axes, build hoop shelters, go on nature walk forrages, and there’ll also be time for lazing around on the beach if the weather is fair. There’s no need to worry if you don’t take to the wilderness too well, you can bring along your own tents for camping and so if all goes wrong you can just snuggle up in your sleeping bag and listen to the noises of nature around you.
