Snowmobiling on Pemberton Ice Fields

Listed under Extreme Machines in British Columbia, Canada.

Skiing and snowboarding are not the only ways to really become immersed in a Winter wonderland. Snowmobiling offers very nearly as much access to the pristine, beautiful off-road terrain but with much less physical stress – if you choose. Modern recreational snowmobiles can reach speeds of up to 120mph, and an off-road ride is not always a smooth one.

Having the opportunity to explore exquisite, untouched, out-of-the-way scenery in relative comfort is one of the main benefits of snowmobiling, so it makes perfect sense to choose one of the world's most beautiful winter landscapes for your first trip.

The area around Whistler offers some of the best snowy terrain in existence, not least Pemberton Ice Fields – a collection of enormous glaciers linked by ridges and valleys and running for hundreds of miles in every direction, with not a tree in sight, so there's nothing to crash into! Areas of it are groomed for riding, but others are untouched, so there is something for everybody. It is way up above the tree line, and the views are quite incredible, so you can speed through the snow and practise your moves, or just admire the scenery and appreciate your heated handlebars.
