The perfect adrenalin booster, a first skydive begins with near overwhelming apprehension and ends with something akin to an addiction. To conquer your instinct for self-preservation and leap from a plane at 15,000 feet is an indescribable confidence builder as well as an experience of overwhelming, thrilling beauty. This is the closest we will ever get to flying unaided, and it is well worth the initial nerves. Anyone can try, and even those with no experience at all can complete a tandem skydive after a few hours of explanation and training. At BPS Langar near Nottingham, beginners can make a solo jump from over 3,000 feet using an automatically-opening parachute on their first day as well as the usual tandem jumps from 12 to 15,000 feet. Basic on-site accommodation is available, should you wish to hone your newfound skills over several days.
