The exact location of this festival is supposed to be secret – until you're on your way there on the August Bank Holiday weekend at least – but it's in a green and rolling space which is mirrored off still, Northamptonshire lakes. The line up is an equal mystery, but the vibe is less secret, they've gone for 'olde worlde festival' of very varied entertainment – in the past that has included some big international names, as well as the best local folk, funk, electro, brass and thumping beats.
As well as the music there are some unique entertainment options as well as the now more standard meditation tents, chill out zones and camp fires – they've had hot tubs, a non-stop cabaret, hula dancing, a knitting circle, a freestyle gurning competition and a tea dance. The more fringe the more the organisers like it. Your outfit is more important than your wellies at Shambala – all the cool kids opt for fancy dress. You can also hire your own luxury tipi or yurt to keep you comfy between the beat poetry and the break beats.
