Listed under Natural World in British Columbia, Canada.
Hundreds of square miles of forests, stone precipices, jutting snowy peaks and cliff dotted country is included under the banner of the Canadian Rockies. Pointed pines line the ground thickly giving way to bare or snowy slopes and soaring mountain scenery attract people to this wilderness, as does the wildlife and the chance to get back to nature. The region is so large it offers all kinds of outdoor pursuits, hike, climb, ski, camp, cycle, kayak, go on a trail ride or play frisbee. If you’re travelling through and the weather turns bad, the Alpine Club of Canada maintain rustic huts you can stay in. To give you an idea of the scale, Banff, Lake Louise, Golden, Jasper Waterton and Canmore National Parks are all part of this area which stretches from Alberta to Liard Plain in Canada before becoming the American Rockies and trailing out in Idaho. This countryside got its shape from the glaciation that occurred here which makes the Canadian Rockies appear more dramatic than it’s American sibling, this range is also older.
