This limestone peak jutting out of Gibraltar is now known for its Barbary ape reserve (these are Europe’s only wild monkeys), but was once known as the end of the known world and was thought to be one of the pillars holding up the sky (you can see it for miles around.). Riddled through with defensive tunnels, the rock and Gibraltar have been fought over for centuries, but is now owned by the British.
