Marka is the name for the forested hills above and around Oslo. In fact the word really translates to 'forest'.

In summer you'll find all of Oslo here walking and hiking, and in winter you'll find them all here cross country skiing. This is the nearest bit of glorious great outdoors to the city, and people round these parts love the glorious outdoors.
