Lydford Gorge is one of the deepest gorges in the UK, and though this may not be the most dramatic of countrysides, this gorge still begins with a thundering 30metre waterfall called Whitelady, and the walk around it involves walking across a plank over the 'Devil's Cauldron' whirlpools, so put your National Geographic memories aside and embrace it as if you'd never seen anything but this green and pleasant land and you'll be even more impressed.  It is lovely though.
