One of the best known of Hawaii’s snorkeling spots this is a popular hang out for fish as well. Clear and sandy and sheltered by a part caved in volcano this spot now actually has limited daily visitors (around 3,000) to help protect the ecosystem and the fish that thrive here. A lot of information is posted up about taking care of the marine environment so although it is still popular it is in good condition. Coral starts a way off shore and is in quite shallow water. Busy but still worth visiting and still one of the best spots on Oahu.

Hanauma Bay

Hanauma Bay is now a protected marine park, it is home to coral and a large population of fish, including parrotfish who live in the volcanic lagoon’s sheltered waters. The Bay was originally formed by the cone of a volcano and it now acts as a buffer to protect to cove from high winds and rough seas.

Divers can expect to see eels, Spotted Eagle Rays, octopi and Green Sea Turtles.
