The west coast of Scotland has some of the best wreck dives in the UK, including the Rondo, a US steam ship and the Breda, a steel steamer.
The Breda came under fire from German bombers in 1942 and suffered superficial damage, however as it was being towed to harbour it flooded and was sunk in deep water. It’s now sitting upright on the sea floor and is covered in sea stars, crayfish and dead man’s fingers. The propeller has been removed but its cargo of sandals and aircraft engines were sunk with the ship.
This is a great wreck dive for beginners as visibility is good and the ship is upright so it’s easy to see.
