If you want to dive amongst the shoals this is the place to do it. For beginners and experienced divers who just like seeing a lot of fish, the Fish Factory site is basically a large lagoon in the Vauna Reef with a white sandy floor bottom. The best sights are amongst the soft coral bommies about 15 to 20 metres below the surface where damsel fish, anthias, mackerel, barracudas and trevelly cruise past. People occasionally spot a reef shark or a pilot whale. The further along you get from the get in the harder the corals become, until eventually they join up creating the shell of the living reef which the soft corals then sprout on – they’re usually the more colourful.
Turtles and eels are represented here as well and ‘cause you don’t have to get too deep to see the sights this is a good spot for snorkelers as well.
