The Coronado Islands are known for rocky bouldered coastlines and seabeds and steep topography. An abundance of sea urchins make their homes amongst the rocks where moray eels and sea lions are common visitors. The most common fish in this area are garibaldis and exotic looking scorpion fish.

Wrecks, some quite recent, litter the sea floor along the Coronado Islands coastline and divers will often run into a seal or two. To sum up you have the strange rocky shapes, bridges, pinnacles and tunnels, which are a safe haven to unusual fish life (or seal dinner) and death trap for vessels, creating a playground for divers.
