Diving off Manijin Island and the Akamas Peninsular

Listed under Diving in Cyprus.

Clear waters and a rocky coastline make for interesting diving on the northwest tip of Crete. There is also the chance to see pottery and other ancient artefacts on the sea floor.

The Maze, a mazelike network of underwater tunnels and caverns which can be easily navigated, is located just off the peninsular. You don’t need to have any special training of equipment to dive in the maze and it’s a good site for beginners. The highlight is a tunnel-like crevice which divers drop down into from a narrow entry point at the top.

Manijin Island, 45 minutes from Paphos Harbour, has caves, a drop off and several blow holes and is small enough to swim around in one dive. Its distance from the main sites leaves it unspoiled and fairly quiet, but you'll need to arrange a boat to get out to it.

Water off much of Cyprus’s coast is shallow and quite warm (between about 16 and 28 degrees.).
