Dive sites along the coast of Halkidiki have only been opened up by the Greek government so they’re in excellent condition. Common sights in the region are sponge walls, Moray Eels, Sea Stars, Lobster and Octopi. There is also several local shipwrecks to explore including the Mytilini a 36m long wine carrier now standing upright in 22m of water.
The best times to dive are between April and October.

Avlaki and Kelifos Island
While the marine life isn't as colourful as the red sea there was plenty to see and a big bonus of not seeing other divers in the water as Odyssey Dive Club, a British owned dive centre, are the only ones that use a boat on a regular basis.
My two favourite dives have to be Avlaki and Kelifos island.
We did shore and boat dives from their 9mtr hard boat. The dives were all guided and a full briefing given before each dive. The groups were small.
