From the flatlands of Yucatan to the uber-rugged Pacific coast, Mexico has something for every cyclist. Everyone I know who's made the ultra-trek from Alaska to Patagonia claims that Mexico was their favourite part of the journey, and it's no surprise. The culture here is completely beguiling and outrageously rich, with music and colours everywhere --a non-stop fiesta. To be enjoyed year-round (though coastal and desert areas can get quite warm in the summertime).

The cycling from the Mexican/Belizean border to Cancun is not for the faint hearted. The first 60 miles is along a busy 4lane highway with a wide shoulder. Thats okay but not particularly interesting or scenic. From Felipe Carillo Puerto to Tulum is mostly a very busy two lane, lots of trucks and virtually no shoulder. You have to get off the road as best you can if two trucks or busses come from opposite directions at the same time. Here is a link to my trip from Honduras to Cancun, Mexico.
