In 1980, Radio City Music Hall made a welcome return to what it had originally been designed for: concerts and live stage shows. After its opening in 1932 was unsuccessful, it adopted cinema as a medium more in line with public demand. By 1979 though, changes in film distribution rights had made cinema an unviable trade. Now in the 21st century it is going strong as a theatre venue once again, and the original art deco interior is now officially listed as a New York City landmark.
