This looming Victorian home is not what I pictured when I thought of the home of abolitionist and author, Harriet Beecher Stowe. The outside is large and somewhat foreboding, but the inside is filled with mementos of the life of this well-educated, well-traveled woman.

Purchased and restored by a family member, much of the original furniture is here, as well as a collection of manuscripts and other artifacts.

Visitors can also visit the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center to discover more about this influential family of social activists.
