One of the most influential buildings of the 20th Century, built for the summer theatre events of the Anthroposophical Society. The first, wooden building (1913-19) dedicated to the brilliant Johann Goethe, featured a large dome and became a spiritual centre for fans of Steiner"s work. When burnt down in 1922, he designed the second building, another absolute masterpiece, now protected as a Swiss national cultural landmark. Steiner"s emphasis in his work was not simply to create atmosphere conducive to human experience, but to actively draw the activities of the higher worlds into shape and space.
