This is a particularly stretch of the Gower Peninsular just out of Swansea marked by the Pennard Pill stream running into the sea from the middle of the bay. The stream and the cliffs break up the bay into different named beaches, but they share the rugged view and pale sand and at low tide they're joined physically as well and you can walk between them.
Just aside and up from the main beach is 12th Century Pennard Castle – a place laden with legends of fairies and other worldly folk. Rock climbers love the cliffs and the BBC and Good Beach Guide like the views and water clarity respectively.
