Listed under Coastlines in Wales, United Kingdom.
The Gower Peninsular is popular with walkers, surfers and beach goers for many reasons, but mostly because it’s just really beautiful. So beautiful that it was the first place to be awarded the protected title of ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ – before any of Cornwall or the Lake District.
Passing along the peninsula the vista changes from estuaries to sandy bays to rocky cliffs to cocklebeds. Inland the view is made up of pretty villages and a rural patchwork sporting six castles and a championship golf course. It’s beaches are well known for being clean and beautiful and it has some interesting Bronze Age sites, so fills that cliché of having ‘something for everyone’.
