Puget Sound is one of the most beautiful bits of America's coastline: a rugged sound and system of estuaries all linked up along the coast between the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Admiralty Inlet at the Pacific Ocean. You can travel all along it in a car ferry – which is one of the best ways to spend a wind whipped Seattle afternoon.

Life lovers will also enjoy looking for the orcas and salmon known to heavily populate these waters, and, rather more easily, spotting the geoducks or king clam.
