This historic old city built on the convergence of the Volga and Kotorosl Rivers is also on the intersection of major highways and railways and has always been an important city for trade. The city’s highlights are the Spassky Monastery, the Saviour Transfiguration Cathedral, which is over 500 years old and the Epiphany Church.
