Alexander the Great’s furthest conquest, this city on the edge of the Ferghana Valley is the most fertile, densely populated oasis in Central Asia and is now riding on its oil and natural gas production. Tree lined avenues and 19th Century, blue washed colonial style buildings give the city colour.
