This exotic subtropical commercial port on the Black Sea has long been an important spot for trade: now the final stop on the Baku oil pipeline, historically Batumi was an important trade port on the Silk Route, first for the Greeks, then the Romans, Arabs, the Ottomans and the Russians who all occupied Batumi at some point.
