Listed under Churches & Abbeys in York, United Kingdom.
York Minister is one of Europe’s largest Gothic Cathedrals and is renowned for its intricately decorated chapter house, soaring ceiling and 14th Century stained glass windows, the largest medieval pieces in the world. This is also an ancient Christian site used since the 3rd Century for worship and to baptise and bury royalty, but the majority of the current buildings were built in the 13th Century and have been continually maintained and upgraded. Among the famous historic figures tied to York Minister is the Emperor Constantine, who lived in preserved buildings below the central tower.

Jewel in the crown of York
The city of york is a great tourist destination with many things to see. The jewel in the crown however has to be York Minster. From the outside it is not always visible from the narrow streets of York. Once inside you can truely appreciate its beauty and magnificence. It is apparently the widestgothic nave in England and dates back to the thirteenth century.
If you are ever in York it is well worthy of a visit.
