Orsanmichele's art treasures have been sculptured rather than painted. There's no David here but there's a St. Mark and St. George by Donetello, which was commissioned by the Armourers Guild, St. Stephen, St. Matthew and St. John the Baptist by Ghiberti, and St. Eligius and St. Philip by Banco line the alcove on the side of the church which was sponsored by Florence's crafts and trades guilds. The guilds were a bit competitive about the artistic quality of their commissions which is partly why they've good enough to have been replaced with copies and moved into museums.
