Lubljana is definitely a good choice if you're looking for a truly traditional Christmas market. Not quite a stag party destination yet, the city retains a great deal of its traditional, local charm and you'll find yourself wandering through romantic little streets past some striking baroque architecture in order to reach the market, which stretches in a long line of spruce-decorated stalls down the Lubljanica riverside.

The crafts and gifts on sale are largely locally made, as are the seasonal snacks and drinks. Take your pick of the tasty, filled donuts and sausages and enjoy a cup of mulled wine as you stroll from stall to stall and catch a glimpse of the medieval castle that watches over the city.
