Named the 'Continental Christmas Market', Belfast's festive shopping area in the grounds of City Hall takes inspiration from its European counterparts as many in the UK now do, but this one is divided into specific national sections, with corresponding themed entertainment, food and products. Among the possibilities are German gluhwein, beer and sausages, Russian dolls, Dutch cheeses and liquorice sweets, Spanish paella, French breads, sweet crepes and Provencale soaps, Finnish knitwear and of course Irish treats such a liquor coffees.
Children can ride the carousel, visit Santa in his magic forest and have their faces painted.
