Not done with your Christmas shopping yet or just looking to treat yourself? From handmade soaps to luxury cheeses to fine silks, Bath’s Christmas market offers quality products of all sorts. As you wander around the 120+ wooden chalets dispersed through Kingston Parade, Kingston Buildings, Abbey Green, and Abbey Gate Street, don’t be surprised if you hear holiday tunes coming from the direction of Bath Abbey, where a number of musical performances are scheduled to play throughout the duration of the market. Relatively young compared with many of Europe’s Christmas markets, Bath’s market began only in 2001. However, the historic beauty of the city has helped the market gain renown and a growing numbers of visitors over the past years.

Hi Eveie,

It is predominently an English gift market - with the emphasis on supporting local businesses, but there are also some more ethinic style retailers, and some that are of German influence... basically with over 120 wooden chalets - there is something for everyone!

Dates extended for 2010!

I think the Christmas Market in Bath is brilliant - but I'm probably biased as I work on it! I just wanted to let everyone know that the dates have been extended for 2010 to 18 days...

25th November – 12th December 2010

Bath Christmas Market is the most popular shopping event in the South West – and this year, to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary, its dates have been extended by a week to give everyone ample opportunity to experience the best of Christmas shopping.

There couldn’t be a more perfect setting for this traditional festive market – nestled on the cobbled streets and a quaint square in the centre of Bath, between the impressive Abbey and the World renowned Roman Baths, and just a five minute level walk from Bath Spa train station (London Paddington 90 mins, Bristol Temple Meads 20 mins, Cardiff Central 60 mins).

Over 120 wooden chalets sell anything you could need for the perfect Christmas – toys, gifts, jewellery, home-wares and local, festive food.

The aroma of warming food and mulled wine, and the romantic sound of carols drifting on the air both add to the ambience, and help to create a really magical shopping experience.

Is this a Germanic style market with lots of gifts made of wood, or a more English one?
