Some people seem to have one of everything already – so every year they put a strain on your Christmas shopping list imagination. For Bad Reichenhall locals that’s not a problem, the organizers of their annual Christmas market invite over 60 artists - locals and people invited from as far away as Austria and Switzerland - who line up inside the Royal Spa and Assembly Rooms to show you what they’ve done and a little of how they do it – and a lot of it is totally unique.
The foyer is dressed up to match in alpine garb and there’s themed food and entertainment laid on as well. A less particular market sets up in the town’s pedestrian zone caters more for your average gift-receiver, but still has a wooden chalet style charm of its own, especially once you’ve had a few gluhweins. Sponsored by the local chocolatier, Reber, who usually has one of the largest stalls, this outdoor market is usually much smaller and more intimate than some of the more famous German Christmas Markets.

Bad Reichenhall Christmas Market
The fact that 'Reber', a German sweets company, runs this Christmas Market should give you a good idea of the type of market the Bad Reichenhall Christmas market is. Small and highly decorative, this market feels like a family Christmas.
A small town at the foot of the Alpine Mountains, Bad Reichenhall has many things to offer this time of year including the Philharmonic Christmas Orchestra. The Market is located in a small pedestrian area that includes over 300 exclusive shops and restaurants and is coupled with historical sites and at this time of year a strong community Christmas tradition.
