With nearly 200 km of passages mapped so far, Lechuguilla is one of the world's largest cave systems, but it is most famous for its stunning formations. These include vast expanses of sparkling aragonite crystals, beautiful gypsum flowers growing out of the walls, gorgeously colored flowstone, and the world's largest gypsum crystals in the amazing and unique Chandelier Ballroom. At present the cave is open only to approved scientific expeditions. Most of those who have been there (including myself) consider Lechuguilla to be the world's finest cave system.

You can use that previous photo of the Chandelier Ballroom, but I think you should give credit to the photographer (Mike Flores). Mike shot that photo of me while we helped the BBC film their Lechuguilla Cave video footage for the Planet Earth series (Fall 2004). I have some other photos if you'd like to post more. I just was a bit freaked out to see my pic on a website where I hadn't posted it. You can see more pics at my website www.caveclimber.com
