Gothic, and single towered, this used to be the largest church in the Netherlands, and its only cathedral. Just like many churches founded in the middle ages it's been burned and gutted and rebuilt multiple times since the 6th Century when it had its first incarnation, the current edition dating from the 14th Century. It used to be grander than it is now though, the central nave collapsed in a hurricane and was replaced with a tree lined square – which still has some of the original floor though. The real attraction of this old cathedral is the stone carvings and the medieval tomb of a Bishop interred here.
