Tamworth is a classic Norman castle, complete with huge ditch, shell-shaped keep and flanking tower. A number of well-preserved Tudor and Jacobean buildings are nestled within the keep, including a banqueting hall. The 13th-century gatehouse is rumoured to be haunted.
