Raby Castle

In the 1370s an outer wall (now much reduced in height) was built around an irregularly planned inner core of fine early to mid 14th century domestic buildings then made into a much more impressive grouping by the addition of several large and tall towers. Raby belonged to the Neville earls of Westmorland who also had another princely seat not far away at Brancepeth.
