Three storeys high and perched on a hilltop plateau, scenic Matsuyama is one of Japan’s few remaining original castles. It’s multiple wings were built between 1602 and 1628 but were destroyed by lightning and rebuilt in the 19th Century. The current structure has a stone base and white wooden upper storeys with pointed angular roofs.
