Hamelin de Warenne's castle of the 1180s has a unique keep, being circular with six wedge-shaped projecting turrets, one of which contains a tiny chapel near the top. There is also a central well. The now-fragmentary wall of the court once had six solid circular turrets. Three now remain. There are also footings of extensive domestic buildings and fragments of a barbican in front of the gateway.
