Do not be alarmed by the apparent austerity of the fortress of shale and limestone, punctuated by 17 laps, that the young Saint Louis has built on the border of his kingdom to the thirteenth century. Across the drawbridge and discover, within the enclosure, the pleasant residence of the Dukes of Anjou, composed of buildings in the late Gothic and gardens.

Other wonders await you, including the very exceptional tapestry of the Apocalypse, the largest tapestry medieval (104 meters) that is given to us to know, and the famous tapestries Thousandsflowers or the curtain of the Passion .

Château d'Angers is one of the more fort-y looking chateaux, it's medieval in age, as are its beautiful tapestries. Originally one long piece 100 yards long and 20 feet high, it's been broken up into segments for display amongst a collection of 15th and 16th Century tapestries that are some of the world's most beautiful.
